Miller, Cliff Politte and Kelvim Escobar combined on a three-hitter as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Yankees 5-1 on Saturday.

“It was the Yankees, so it felt extra special,” Miller said. “There really isn’t a hole in their lineup.”

Miller, facing the Yankees for the first time, only allowed Derek Jeter’s single to left in the first, Raul Mondesi’s bloop double to center in the fifth and John Vander Wal’s infield single in the fifth.

Miller (6-4) allowed one run, while striking out five and walking three in seven innings.

His wild pitch in the fifth scored New York’s lone run.

“We were flat,” New York manager Joe Torre said. “Miller hid the ball well and we didn’t have many good swings.”

Indians 8, Red Sox 7

Cleveland Johnny Damon committed his first error in 250 games, allowing Bill Selby to score from first on Omar Vizquel’s double, as Cleveland beat Boston.

Selby hit a pinch single with out one in the ninth and Milton Bradley popped up a bunt to first baseman Brian Daubach before Vizquel’s hit. Danys Baez (10-10) pitched a perfect ninth for the win.

White Sox 9, Tigers 4

Detroit Joe Crede hit his fourth home run in as many games, capping a five-run first inning for Chicago. Gary Glover (7-6) allowed three runs and four hits in five-plus innings.

Devil Rays 7, Rangers 5

Arlington, Texas Randy Winn scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in the eighth inning as Tampa Bay beat Texas.

Angels 9, Orioles 0

Anaheim, Calif. Ramon Ortiz improved to 11-9 after he retired his first 16 batters and pitched a five-hitter for his first career shutout as Anaheim routed Baltimore.

Athletics 6, Twins 3

Oakland, Calif. Oakland extended the majors’ longest winning streak in 49 years to 17 games Saturday night, behind four RBIs from Eric Chavez.

The A’s have the longest winning streak since the 1953 New York Yankees won 18 in a row.
