Showers ending, but fog to roll in

You can put away your umbrella this afternoon. But it might be a good idea to pull out a bright light and a fog horn if you’re out early on Saturday morning.

“Tonight fog will start to develop towards the morning and we’ll get down to about 34 degrees,” says Matt Makens, 6News meteorologist.

“The fog tomorrow morning could be thick, so the folks who are getting up early should be careful of that.”

Lawrence got about an inch of rain over the last two days, he said.

The forecast for Friday calls for rain to end in the morning, with cloudy skies expected through the evening.

“The temperature will remain cool with the highs reaching 47,” he said.

“For football tonight, it will be cloudy but dry, with the game-time temperature about 45 and the lower 40s before the end of the game,” he said.

Saturday morning’s fog will burn off toward the afternoon and the clouds should break, bringing mostly sunny skies, he said.

“For the KU game tomorrow, the high will be about 58, with partly cloudy skies,” he said.

Cloudy skies will return Sunday, with another round of showers starting in the evening.

For people going to the Chiefs game on Sunday, the temperature will be about 50 to 52 degrees at game-time.

The forecast calls for showers again through Wednesday, with the day time temperatures getting colder. Highs will be 52 on Sunday, 48 on Monday, 42 on Tuesday and 40 on Wednesday.

“And Thursday, Halloween, all the trick-or-treaters need to dress very warmly,” he said. “We have a high in the 30s for next Thursday. It could be quite cold for the little ones.”
