LHS player of the week: Chris Fulton

Class: Senior

HT: 6-1 WT: 180

Position: Running Back

The game: Fulton enjoyed one of his finest performances yet as a Lion. Behind a dominating offensive line, the senior sprinted his way to 248 rushing yards on just 20 carries, propelling Lawrence to a convincing 42-28 victory against Olathe South. It was the first time the Lions have defeated the Falcons in five years. Fulton had two touchdown runs in the game one from 81 yards out and another from nine yards. Fulton had 12 carries for more than nine yards, often using his quickness and cutting ability to elude the hapless Falcon defense.

Comment: “He ran well,” LHS coach Dirk Wedd said. “He adds a lot to the offense with his breakaway speed. But he’s only as good as those seven people in front of him.”

Honorable Mention: Brandon McAnderson, who rushed for 223 yards on 23 carries, scored three touchdowns, and eclipsed the 2,000 yard rushing mark, the first Lion to do so in nine years.
