IN 1902

From the Lawrence Daily World of Nov. 26, 1902: “Turkeys are a very scarce article this fall, and the price is the highest ever known in Lawrence, between 17 and 18 cents a pound, dressed. As an evidence of good times, it may be added that even with the high price the supply is much lower than the heavy demand for Thanksgiving. . . . The past year has been the best ever for much of the country. Some men have made more money than ever before. There has been more material progress, less shiftlessness and recklessness than many have ever known. The moral tone of the people is healthy, and their politics above par.”
