Lawrence city commission

Bottom Line

The city commission will consider adoption of an ordinance banning the use of fireworks.

Background

Until now, fireworks have been allowed three days a year from July 2 to July 4. The ordinance under consideration would eliminate that but still allow “novelties” such as “party poppers,” “snappers” and “toy smoke devices.”
