Todd services

Mass of Christian Burial for Bernice G. Todd, 74, Lawrence, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery Garden Mausoleum.

Mrs. Todd died Sunday, May 26, 2002, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was a resident of Lawrence for 45 years.

She was born Feb. 25, 1928, in Bremerton, Wash., the daughter of Raymond and Agnes (Harris) Goodman. She grew up in Bremerton, Wash., and attended Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic School and high school there.

Mrs. Todd had been a manager and assistant manager at several restaurants in Lawrence for 30 years and had formerly worked at Hallmark Cards for 13 years. She retired in 1982.

She was active in the Republican Party and had held many county, district and state offices. She was past vice president and past secretary of Douglas County Republican Party and had served as precinct committeewoman for 33 years. She served as secretary-treasurer of the 2nd District and as treasurer of the 3rd District Republican Party. She was a charter member of Town & Country Republican Women. She was also a member of Kansas Federated Republican Women.

Mrs. Todd was a member of the Republican National Committee and on the Republicans for Bob Dole presidential committee in 1976. In 1980 and 1984, she was a delegate for Ronald Reagan to the National Republican Convention and had served on the Ronald Reagan Task Force from 1976 to 2001. She also worked on the John McCain and George W. Bush election committees. She had been an associate member of the Shawnee and Johnson County Republican committees.

She had held all offices and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary since 1957, joining when she was 10 years old as a junior member. She was also a member of Lawrence Business and Professional Women’s Club and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

She married Ronald L. Todd on Nov. 5, 1961, in Miami, Okla. He died Oct. 29, 1998.

Survivors include three sons, Richard L. Todd and Michael A. Todd, both of Lawrence, and George A. Lange, Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Candis M. Scoby, Baldwin, and Barbara J. Lange Boland, Colony; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A parish wake service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to the Bernice Todd Memorial Fund, sent in care of the mortuary.
