Kansas duo leading at walleye tournament

Kenny Ludwig of Leavenworth and Steve Stein of Kickapoo teamed to catch seven walleye that weighed 15.03 pounds last weekend to top the leaderboard at the Cabela’s National Team Championship tournament at Lake Mille Lacs, Minn.

During the two-day tournament, the Kansas pair competed against anglers from 25 states and won $25,000 in prize money plus two fully-rigged Lowe fishing boats.

Ludwig and Stein earned a berth in this 250-team competition by finishing among the top four teams at the Kansas Walleye Association’s Governor’s Cup tournament last year at Glen Elder Lake.

Alma fishermen nab catfish tournament

Doug Wenderott and Jim Berroth, both of Alma, teamed to catch six channel catfish that weighed 22.95 pounds and won the the U.S. Catfish Anglers Tournament Series last weekend at Pomona Lake.

The two also caught the biggest fish, 13.35-pounder. Vic Baldridge of Emporia and David Baldridge of Paola caught six fish that weighed 15.10 pounds and finished second.

Crappie winners

Jeff Lewis of Raymore, Mo., and Jim Treece of Greenwood, Mo., teamed to catch 10 crappie that weighed 10 pounds to win last week’s Crappie Busters tournament at Clinton Lake. Jeff Moison and Jim Moison, both of Topeka, caught 10 crappie that weighed 8.98 pounds to finish second.
