Pearl L. McPeek

She was born Feb. 5, 1918, in Lawrence, the daughter of August John and Josie (Elder) Vogler. She grew up in the Lawrence area and attended Lawrence High School. She had previously lived in Lawrence, Oskaloosa and Topeka.

Mrs. McPeek had formerly worked at Elm Cafe, Oskaloosa. Her main employment was at Sunflower Ammunition Plant, DeSoto, but most of her time was spent as a homemaker.

She was a longtime member of North Lawrence Christian Church, and she also attended First Perry Christian Church and Countryside Christian Church, Topeka. She was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Lawrence, for a number of years.

She married William Spears Abel on Dec. 18, 1942, in Arkansas. They were divorced. She then married Jess William Davis in 1947, in Lawrence. He died April 23, 1955. She married Albert J. McPeek on June 15, 1956, in Lawrence. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include four daughters, Carol Church, Valley Falls, Jeannette VanRooy, Brook Park, Ohio, Darlene Mountain, Lawrence, and Nancy Kaufman, Hillsdale; a son, Jim McPeek, Paola; two sisters, Maxine Lee, Lawrence, and Cleo Jason, Kansas City, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
