Author to give motivational talk

Kansas City, Mo. “Stand Up For Your Life Tour,” featuring professional speaker Cheryl Richardson, will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at Unity Temple on the Plaza, 707 W. 47th St.

Richardson, a motivational speaker, is the author of “Take Time for Your Life” and “Life Makeovers.”

Admission is $10 at the door.

Photographers show works in Ottawa

Ottawa Photographers Gene Berryman and Mike Detwiler are showing their work through May at the Carnegie Cultural Center in downtown Ottawa. A reception will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Berryman, Tecumseh, mainly shoots nature and land. His works have been published in Kansas! magazine, calendars and brochures. Detwiler, Ottawa, is known for experimenting with such new methods as digital watercolor.

Jazz singer to take stage at Gem Theater

Kansas City, Mo. Jazz singer Dianne Reeves will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Gem Theater, 18th and Vine.

Reeves, known for her powerful voice and improvisational ease, incorporates African, Brazilian, Caribbean, gospel, R&B and classic and contemporary pop into her concerts.
