Minnie M. Banning

? Services for Minnie M. Banning, 88, Lawrence, formerly of Horton, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary, Horton. Burial will be in Horton Cemetery.

Mrs. Banning died Tuesday, April 30, 2002, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.

She was born Nov. 9, 1913, in Sparks, the daughter of Pete and Maggie (Bale) Carter. She graduated from Sparks High School.

Mrs. Banning was a sales clerk at Hamel’s Department Store, Horton, before retiring.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Horton.

She married Howard Thomas Banning June 10, 1934, in Horton. He died Jan. 19, 2000.

Other survivors include a son, James Banning, Fort Collins, Co.; a daughter, Joanne Edman, Lawrence; a brother, Bill Carter, Horton; four sisters, Myrtle Reeves and Ethel Meerpohl, both of Horton, Betty Heim, Holton, and Barbara Circle, Jacksonville, Tex.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A son, Thomas Banning, died earlier.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at the mortuary.
