Jean O. McAdam

? He was born Dec. 17, 1918, in Holton, the son of James and Edith (Osborne) McAdam. He was a 1937 graduate of Holton High School and received a certificate in diesel maintenance engineering in Los Angeles. He had lived in Wamego since 1994, moving there from Oskaloosa, where he had lived since 1946.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 7th infantry division from 1942 to 1945. He was a member of the Larner-Segraves American Legion Post No. 36, Oskaloosa.

Mr. McAdam worked as the Jefferson County shop foreman in Oskaloosa for several years before retiring in 1984. He formerly worked as a heavy equipment operator for Max Engle Construction Co., Oskaloosa, and he operated a blacksmith and mechanic shop in Oskaloosa for many years.

He was a member of Oskaloosa United Methodist Church, and was a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge No. 14 AF & AM and Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 62, both in Oskaloosa.

He married Imogene Hedrick on July 27, 1946, in Louisburg. She died Jan. 3, 1990.

Survivors include a son, Keith, Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Shirley Skuban, Alma; a brother, James, Holton; and five grandchildren.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday.
