Roseina LaVeda Padgett

? She was born March 25, 1931, in Webster County, Neb., the daughter of Fredrick Lee and Nancy (Denton) Hastings. Early in her life, she had lived in Topeka and Manhattan. She later moved to Osage City, where she lived for 32 years.

While in Osage County, she worked at Head Start for many years. She was also a homemaker.

She married James Edward LaMar Thrash on July 20, 1949. They were divorced. She later married Winfield “Scott” Padgett on May 13, 1958, in Clarinda, Iowa. He died in 1990.

Survivors include four sons, Richard Lynn (Thrash) Padgett, Jamestown, Scott LaVern Padgett, St. Charles, Mo., Phillip Mark Padgett, Osage City, and Leslie Mathew Padgett, Centropolis; a daughter, Rose Marie (Thrash) Singh, Lawrence; two stepsons, Donald Eugene Padgett, St. George, and Gerald L. Padgett, Wamego; a stepdaughter, Rozella Kay Klabenes, Clearwater, Neb.; two sisters, Violet Thompson and Elsie Burden, both of Lawrence; a brother, Joe Hastings, Cañon City, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 13 stepgreat-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

A grandchild died earlier.
