Even at dome, Final Four will be a tough KU ticket

? Tickets to the Final Four in Atlanta will be difficult to find and expensive to buy for Kansas Jayhawks basketball fans who want to hop on the bandwagon.

The 4,500 tickets made available to Kansas University for Saturday and Monday Georgia Dome games have been spoken for since February, said Richard Konzem, associate athletics director.

“We have our orders in,” he said Sunday after the Jayhawks defeated Oregon in an Elite Eight showdown. “At this point, we think we will use all of our tickets.”

The Georgia Dome is configured to hold about 53,000 people for the Final Four. All those tickets have been purchased.

Face prices for the three-game package are $160, $140 and $120 each, depending on location. Of course, scalpers will demand far more.

Konzem said KU students, faculty, alumni and athletic department donors had to formally request NCAA Tournament tickets by Feb. 8. KU staff will contact today or Tuesday those who properly requested tickets.

People may confirm orders by calling (800) 34-HAWKS or 864-3141.

KU students, faculty or staff can stop by the ticket office at Allen Fieldhouse to find out if tickets become available.

However, Konzem urged anxious fans to realize those phone lines will be burning up.

“People need to be patient because we’ll get several thousand phone calls,” he said.
