KU golfers in 17th place

? Kansas University’s women’s golf team on Monday was in 17th place out of 18 teams after the first round of the Verizon “Mo”Morial Invitational.

The Jayhawks have 346 strokes, five ahead of last-place Arkansas. Ohio State leads with 307 strokes. TCU is second at 315.

Due to cold weather and frost, the tournament was reduced from 54 holes to 36 on the par-72 Briarcrest Country Club.

“This was one of the worst weather conditions I have seen in awhile,” KU coach Nicole Hollingsworth said. “The course was difficult and the tough weather conditions increased every team’s score. Hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day for our team.”

Due to technical difficulties, individual scores will not be available until today.

The final round of the Verizon “Mo”Morial is today.
