Myrtle E. Harrington Willkett

Bonner Springs Services for Myrtle Edna Harrington Willkett, 93, Bonner Springs, will be at 3 p.m. today at Alden-Harrington Chapel, Bonner Springs. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, Kan.

Mrs. Willkett died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Dec. 29, 1908, in Allawee, Okla., the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (Fink) Harrington.

Mrs. Willkett moved to Lawrence during World War II to work at Sunflower Ordnance Plant, DeSoto. She then moved to Eudora to work for Ollie Clark at her restaurant and at Johnny’s Cafe for several years. She moved to Bonner Springs after her second marriage.

She married Orville Lee Worthington. He died in 1982. She then married George “Jake” Willkett. He died in 1985.

Survivors include a daughter, Delores Kurtz, Eudora; a brother, Wilson Harrington, Delaware, Okla.; four sisters, Bertha Lafferty, Shawnee, Ruth Elliott, Excelsior Springs, Mo., Jewell Martin, Leavenworth, and Vera Earl, Springfield, Mo.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

A son, Orville Earl Worthington, died in 1996.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. today at the chapel.

The family suggests memorials in her name to American Cancer Society, sent in care of Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, 214 Oak St., Bonner Springs 66012.
