Ogburn, Urbanek win in walleye tournament

Ray Urbanek of Lawrence and Chris Ogburn of Ottawa teamed to catch eight walleye that 21.1 pounds to take first place at the Kansas Walleye Association tournament last Sunday at Marion Lake.

Craig Athon of Topeka and Darren Jenson of Hoyt finished second. Kendall Strutt of Belleville and Vernon Strutt of Woodston were third. Only 24 fish were caught by the 62 competing teams.

Saathoffs triumph

Josh Saathoff and Shawn Saathoff, both of Lawrence, teamed to catch four bass that weighed 12.30 pounds and won the junior bass division at the Like Father, Like Son tournament last weekend at Milford Lake.

Lawrence’s McGlinn, Ortiz 2nd in bass event

Larry McGlinn and Steve Ortiz, both of Lawrence, placed second in the big bass event at the Central Pro-Am Association Ranger-Mercury Platinum Team Tournament Series at Grand Lake, Okla, on June 23. They won $400.

They also qualified for the Hog Caller Team Championship tournament in October and the Ranger-Mercury Platinum Team Tournament Championship on September 7-8 at Stockton Lake, Mo.
