Bernard ‘Ben’ John Kimminau

? Services for Bernard “Ben” John Kimminau, 90, Wichita, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wichita. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Wichita.

Mr. Kimminau died Monday, June 17, 2002, at a Wichita hospital.

He was born Jan. 3, 1912, near Willowdale in Kingman County, the son of John and Mary (Musenbrock) Kimminau.

Mr. Kimminau worked most of his life as a mechanic, first at Bill Young’s in Kingman and then in Wichita for Standard Oil Co. and Graves Truckline. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a pitcher in the minor leagues on a AAA team.

He lived in Kingman, where he was a member of St. Patrick’s Parish until he moved to Wichita in 1950.

He married Sophia Marie Laggart on Nov. 19, 1940, in Willowdale. She died May 18, 2002.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Lechtenberg, Lawrence; four sons, Richard and Dennis, both of Wichita, Michael, Andover, and Leroy, Leawood; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wichita.

The family suggests memorials to Senior Friends at Wesley Medical Center, 550 N. Hillside, Wichita 67214.
