Theresa A. Bauman

? Services for Theresa A. Bauman, 91, Kansas City, Mo., will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Thomas More Church in Kansas City, Mo. Burial will be at Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak, Mich.

Mrs. Bauman died Sunday, June 16, 2002, in Kansas City, Mo.

She was born Aug. 21, 1910, in Grand Junction, Mich., the daughter of August and Lena Wauchek.

Mrs. Bauman graduated from Western Michigan University in 1931. She earned a master’s degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1964.

She worked in chemical research in the paper industry in Kalamazoo, Mich. She later taught chemistry for 20 years at Central and Southeast high schools in Kansas City., Mo.

She married John Bauman on April 30, 1932, in Michigan. He died in August 2000.

The family moved to Chicago in 1945 and to Kansas City in 1952 before returning to her husband’s family farm in Burr Oak., Mich., in 1976. She returned to Kansas City after the death of her husband.

She was active in religious education and Eucharistic ministry at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sturgis, Mich.

Mrs. Bauman was a member of the American Chemical Society and won many awards from the Kansas City ACS.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Marie Shumway, Camdenton, Mo., and Mary Ann Yeats, Australia; three sons, L. Joseph Bauman, Lawrence, the Rev. William A. Bauman, Kansas City, Mo., and John E. Bauman Jr., Columbia, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to an educational institution or scholarship fund, sent in care of McGilley State Line Chapel, Kansas City, Mo.

The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. until the private wake at 6:30 p.m. at St. Thomas More Church; and at a reception following the service in More Hall.
