Renegades reach title game
Ottawa ? Lawrence’s Renegades defeated Independence, 6-5, on Friday in the pool championship game of the six-team Ottawa USSSA tournament.
The Renegades, 8-5 overall, advance to today’s title game against a yet-to-be determined opponent at 4:30 p.m. today at Ottawa’s Drake Field.
The Renegades were down, 5-4, when rains hit. After a 30-minute delay, the Renegades plated two in the sixth.
Carl Lisher drew a one-out walk and scored on a Jack Bell triple. Brett Urban’s single gave the Renegades the lead. Bell went 2-for-3 and Ryan Jackson homered for the winners.
“They put the bat on the ball and had some hits with two strikes. They made it a tough game for us,” coach Lynn Harrod said.
