Margaret E. (Ely) Gonzales

? Graveside services for Margaret E. (Ely) Gonzales, 82, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa.

Mrs. Gonzales died Thursday, June 13, 2002, at her home.

She was born Jan. 1, 1920, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Harvey and Honora Galbraith. She attended Westport High School and the Conservatory of Music at University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Mrs. Gonzales was a civil servant during World War II in Bakersfield, Calif., and obtained her pilot’s license. She worked as a U.S. Postal Service employee for 17 years in Albuquerque, N.M. In 1984, she retired to a farm in Greenfield, Mo. She was a flower show judge with the greater Kansas City Garden Club.

She married Alfred Ely in 1946. She later married Eloy Gonzales. He died in June 1983.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol A. Morris, Overland Park, and Patricia L. Higgins, Lawrence; a brother, John W. Galbraith, St. Petersburg, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A son, Philip W. Ely, died on May 3, 1991.
