Auburn’s Harrington to remain in draft

? Auburn guard Adam Harrington announced he will remain in the NBA draft after receiving favorable reviews from scouts.

Harrington signed with agent Dan Fagan, a move that would prevents him from returning to Auburn next season if he has second thoughts about turning pro.

Underclassmen declaring for the NBA draft have until Sunday to remove themselves from the player pool unless they sign with an agent.

Harrington, a 6-foot-5 junior, worked out for representatives of several teams this past week in Auburn and attended another session in Florida. He visited the Denver Nuggets on Friday, and the Memphis Grizzlies have shown interest.

“It has always been a dream of mine to play in the NBA, and the feedback has been extremely positive,” said Harrington, a native of Bernardston, Mass. “This decision has been very tough for me, but I now feel I have a great opportunity to make my dream come true.”

The draft is will be held June 23 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. This year, 58 college underclassmen and high school seniors have declared for early entry. The list includes Alabama guard Rod Grizzard, a possible late-first round selection, who is recovering from a broken tibia.

Harrington has been projected as a potential mid-to-late-second round selection. Each of the three previous Auburn players to enter declare for the draft as underclassmen profited from the decision.
