Jeremiah and Jaime Andrews, Lawrence, announce the birth of their daughter, Jayce Logan Andrews, born May 1, 2002. Jayce has a brother, Jeremiah Lee, 3.

Jenni Nieva and Ryan Joseph Robinson, Lawrence, announce the birth of their son Hayden Conrad Robinson, born May 22, 2002, in Overland Park. Hayden has a brother, Hunter Cade, 6.

Maternal grandparents are Conrad and Lourdes Nieva, Shawnee. Paternal grandparents are Jerry and Pat Robinson, Lawrence.

Dianne and Fred Thomas, Lawrence, announce the birth of their daughter Mackenzie Maxine Thomas, born June 7, 2002, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Mission. Mackenzie has two sisters, Ashlie, 8, and Cameryn, 2.

Maternal grandparents are Butch and Judi Shaffer, Chillicothe, Mo. Paternal grandparents are Fred and Maxine Thomas, Houston.

Amanda Reichard and James R. Redmon, Lawrence, announce the birth of their son, William Eric Redmon, born June 3, 2002, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

Sossina Negash Case and Anthony P. Case, Lawrence, announce the birth of their daughter, Hanna Mariam Anthony Case, born June 6, 2002, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

Janell Hayden Precht and Jack “Rusty” Precht announce the birth of their daughter, Haylee Eileen Precht, born June 7, 2002, at Overland Park Regional Hospital. Grandparents are Stanley and Linda Hayden, Lawrence, and Bonnie Pappas, Overland Park, and Jack Precht, Haskell, Okla.

The Old West Lawrence Neighborhood Assn. Applause Committee has recognized five worthy projects as a part of its ongoing program to honor neighbors for their aesthetic contributions to the OWL neighborhood:

702 La., for back porch restoration, paint and landscape;

705 Maine, for addition and remodel;

711 Ind., for front porch restoration;

721 Tenn., for porch and terrace repair;

Calvary Church of God in Christ, 646 Ala., for remodeling and addition.

Lauren Coffman, Baldwin, earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture in May 2002 from Kansas State University, where she earned the American Institute of Architects Scholastic Award. She also received the American Institute of Architects Henry Adams Certificate of Excellence.

Katie Killough graduated in May 2002 from the University of San Diego with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She was a presidential scholar and a member of Gamma Phi Beta and the Accounting Society. She will begin work this fall as an auditor with KPMG LLP of San Diego.

Killough, a Lawrence High School graduate, is the daughter of Scott and Susan Killough, Lawrence.

Michael Hazel, Lawrence, made the spring 2002 Dean’s List, and Christopher Williams, Lawrence, made the spring 2002 Dean’s List with distinction at Duke University, Durham, N.C. Hazel is the son of John Hazel and Robin Gingerich. Williams is the son of Frederick and Linda Williams.

Ashley Knight, Lawrence, accepted membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She will be honored during a campus ceremony this fall at Kansas University. NSCS is a highly selective honors organization that recognizes first- and second-year undergraduate students who excel academically.

Melissa Wong and Marie Wolfe, both of Lawrence, and Hilary Rainbolt, Linwood, made University Honors during the 2002 spring semester at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Mich., by earning at least a 3.5 grade-point average.

Jacob Montgomery, Lawrence, received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics in May 2002 at Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, N.C.

The Lawrence Pilot Club’s scholarship recipients are Sarah Modrzynski, Lawrence High School graduate, and Megan Bird, Free State High School graduate. Each received $750.

Jaime Noble, Lawrence, was recognized during Honors Day Convocation at Southern Methodist University, Dallas. She received the Robert and Nancy Dedman Outstanding Senior Student Award and the Ann Early Award in women’s studies. She also was recognized as a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Andrew Monshizadeh is a member of the Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corp. for the summer. The Corp, which is based in Milwaukee, will perform July 15 at Haskell Stadium. Andrew will be a senior at Lawrence High School, where he plays the mellowphone in the LHS Marching Band and the French horn in the Symphonic Band. He is the son of Fee and Cindy Monshizadeh.

Austin Fowler, a Lawrence High School senior, has received a Dean’s Award scholarship to attend the Columbus College of Art & Design in Columbus, Ohio. The merit scholarship was awarded as a result of an art portfolio competition which was judged by faculty members. Fowler will begin her studies this fall and plans to major in fine arts. She is the daughter of John Fowler, Lawrence, and is the student of art instructor Pat Nemchock.

Elisa Hofer, Lawrence, made the 2002 spring semester Dean’s List at Goshen College, Goshen, Ind. The Free State High School graduate is the daughter of Rod and Roberta Hofer.

Travis Engelbert, Lawrence, graduated summa cum laude in May 2002 from Bethany College, Lindsborg. He received a degree in biology and chemistry.

Christina Brune and Josie Madl, both of Lawrence, earned degrees during spring commencement ceremonies at Southwest Missouri State University, Springfield, Mo. Brune earned a master’s degree. Madl received a bachelor’s degree and graduated summa cum laude.

Josie Madl and Joshua Goeke, both of Lawrence, made the Dean’s List for the 2002 spring semester at Southwest Missouri State University, Springfield, Mo., by earning at least a 3.5 grade-point average.

Heather Burris, a Lawrence High School student, has been inducted in the Physical Therapy Camp for outstanding science students at Rockhurst University, Kansas City, Mo. Burris joined campers from throughout the Midwest for three days of hands-on scientific experiments and explorations in the field of health care.

Megan Lewis, Lawrence, has been named to the spring 2002 President’s List at Truman State University by earning a 4.0 grade point average. Lewis has been at the school for four years, majoring in political science. She is involved with Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity, Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society, Pi Sigma Alpha-Political Science Honor Society, Sigma Delta Pi-Spanish Honor Society, National Society of Collegiate Scholars and College Republicans. She is the daughter of Joe and Kim Lewis Jr.

Jarret Johnson, Baldwin, has been named to the spring 2002 President’s List at Truman State University by receiving a 4.0 grade point average. Johnson is a junior majoring in physics. He is involved with the Society of Physics Students, Pi Sigma Pi National Honor Society and Pershing Society. He is the son of Michael and Kathleen Johnson.

Baker University announces area students who made the spring 2002 Honor Roll by earning at least a 3.5 grade point average. Ashley Johnson, Lawrence, and Kathryn Tetuan, Tecumseh, received degrees during commencement exercises May 18 at Baylor University in Waco, Tex.

Douglas John Pedersen, Lawrence, received a bachelor’s degree in art and German from Berea College, Berea, Ky. He is the son of Debra Pedersen, Lawrence.

Heather Falley, Lawrence, received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Okla., where she graduated summa cum laude. She was involved in Psi Chi Rho Psychology Club and the Alpha Lamda Delta Honor Society. Falley is a 1998 graduate of Lawrence High School and the daughter of Rick and Diane Falley, Lawrence.
