Baldwin’s Eric Brown finished third in the javelin at the Golden West Invitational last weekend in Sacramento, Calif.

Brown, a two-time Kansas Class 4A state champion who has signed with Arkansas, threw 191-10. In May, Brown had won the state title with a toss of 197-0.

Daniel Brant of Franklin, Ore., won the Golden West championship with a throw of 196-10. Matt Schwandt, the Kansas 6A champion from Manhattan, was runner-up at 193-7.
