Vernon ‘Frankie’ New

Russell Memorial services for Vernon “Frankie” New, 81, Russell, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Russell. Cremation is planned.

Mr. New died Thursday, June 6, 2002, at Russell Regional Hospital.

He was born Nov. 7, 1920, in Russell, the son of Frank Edwin and Marie Kathryn (Schaat) New. He was a lifelong Russell resident. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army.

Mr. New owned and operated New Oil Company for many years. He retired in 1975.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Elks Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion Posts and Shrine Club, all in Russell. He was also a member of Consistory and ISIS Shrine, both in Salina.

He married Reba Mae Millikin Sept. 8, 1940, in Russell. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Jimmy, Walkerton, Ind.; a daughter, Jennifer L. Adams, Lawrence; a sister, Clarice Reinhardt, Russell; four grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Pohlman’s Mortuary, Russell.
