Rookie Jimmie Johnson continues to impress, especially after picking up his second Winston Cup victory Sunday at Dover, Del. In the past two races Johnson has led a combined 451 of the 800 laps raced. He earned the 10 bonus points for leading the most laps in each race and remains the series leader with the most top-10 finishes (nine) in 13 starts. Johnson is on a lightning pace to eclipse Tony Stewart’s rookie records and be in position to make a run at the series championship.

So much for starting the season with a bang. Last season, Michael Waltrip scored his first Winston Cup victory when he won the season opening Daytona 500. He went on to finish 24th in the series standings. Ward Burton, who won this season’s Daytona 500, has met a similar fate. After 13 races he is 22nd in series points and has two top-10 finishes in 13 starts, including his win at Daytona.
