Airport open house rescheduled for today

If at first you don’t succeed, fly, fly again.

The Lawrence Municipal Airport’s first attempt to have an open house was rained out in April, so a second attempt will be made from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today.

The airport has been spruced up during the past year, with new furniture inside the terminal and a larger aircraft parking apron outside.

Companies and organizations that use the airport, including GUT Works LLC, Kansas Flight Test Center, Hetrick Aircraft, Cessna and Lifestar air ambulance, will showcase their wares.

Visitors can take helicopter rides for $20. They also can ride aboard the Warbirds’ North American AT-6 propeller planes at prices ranging from $190 to $590.

The airport is located on U.S. Highway 24-40, a mile east of the junction of U.S. Highways 59 and 24-40.
