Davis services
Funeral services for Doris M. Davis, 79, Lawrence, will be noon Friday at St. Luke’s AME Church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Ms. Davis died Monday, July 22, 2002, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.
She was born June 22, 1923, in Lawrence, the daughter of William and Martha Marie (Kennedy) Suggs. She lived all her life in Lawrence.
Ms. Davis was a custodial supervisor at Kansas University until she retired in 1993. She was a member of St. Luke’s AME Church and a volunteer at Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen.
She married Luther Davis. He died earlier.
Survivors include two daughters, Rozanna Davis and Jackie Davis, both of Lawrence; two sons, Otis Bowers, Kansas City, Kan., and Arrington Bowers, Kansas City Mo.; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to American Lung Assn. or the church, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
