Chandlee and Wallace services

Services for Wyona M. Chandlee, 71, and George L. “Pete” Wallace, 71, both of Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

They were found dead Thursday, July 11, 2002, at their home.

Both families will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

Both families suggest memorials to Bar H Boy’s Ranch, sent in care of the mortuary.

Wyona M. Chandlee

Mrs. Chandlee will be buried in Oak Hill Cemetery following the service.

She was born Sept. 5, 1930, in Fort Scott, the daughter of Edward and Lillian (Kinder) Reavis. She had lived in Lawrence since 1962, moving from Fort Scott.

Mrs. Chandlee retired from Capitol Federal Savings & Loan, Lawrence.

She was past president of Eagles Auxiliary, State Grandmother for the Eagles Auxiliary and secretary for the Retired Eagles Activity Club.

She married Ellis R. Chandlee on Dec. 15, 1972, in Lawrence. He died May 20, 1993.

Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Sue Goos, Tonganoxie; a son, Dean Brown, Lawrence; a stepdaughter, Pamela Sue Rogers, Floyd, N.M.; a stepson, Steve Chandlee, Lawrence; a sister, Dixie Greeno, Lawrence; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A son, Dallas E. Brown, died Nov. 11, 1981.

George L. “Pete” Wallace

Mr. Wallace will be buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

He was born Sept. 10, 1930, in Linn, the son of George and Florence (Mickel) Wallace.

Mr. Wallace retired in 1991 as a truck driver for ANR Truck Lines, Kansas City, Kan.

He was president of Mount Oread Aerie No. 309, Fraternal Order of Eagles, State Grandfather for the Eagles Organization and a member of the Board of Directors of the Bar H Boy’s Ranch, Nevada, Mo.

He married Edith McGee on Aug. 25, 1950, in Salina. She died March 25, 1993.

Survivors include three daughters, Deborah Aguilar and Janice Wallace, both of Kansas City, Kan., and Judy Bowen, Smithville, Mo.; a son, George L. Jr., Kansas City, Kan.; two sisters, Vivian Stelljes, Washington, and Babe Green, Greenleaf; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Two daughters, Patty Wallace and Vicki Wallace, and a son, Steven, died earlier.
