Jason and Carolyn Carlson, Lawrence, announce the birth of their son, Mason Elliott Carlson, born July 1, 2002, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Grandparents are Richard and Cindy Helder, St. Joseph, Mo., and Chris and Paula Carlson, McLouth.

Garry and Susan Brownlee, Mulvane, announce the adoption of their daughter, Sally Neng Brownlee, on June 11. She was born May 20, 2001, in Anhui Province, China.

She has a brother, Joshua, 5.

Dallas Worley, a recent Lawrence High School graduate, has signed with Fort Scott Community College on a baseball scholarship. He is the son of Steve and Brenda Worley, Lawrence.

Prairie Wind Pony Club announces the promotion of Lauren Baggett and Clare Miles from D1 to D2 rating at a testing given at White Oak Ranch. Lauren is the daughter of Jim Baggett and Marguerite Ermeling, both of Lawrence. Clare is the daughter of David and Deanna Miles, Baldwin.

To earn the D2 rating, both girls passed an examination that tested horsemanship skills and knowledge. They had passed one previous standardized rating test since joining Pony Club in September. Each of the nine Pony Club ratings is more difficult than the preceding.
