Minnie Mae Clevenger

Services for Minnie Mae Clevenger, 77, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Clinton Parkway Assembly of God. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Clevenger died Monday, July 8, 2002, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born Aug. 17, 1924, in Lawrence, the daughter of Chester Wiley and Minnie Victoria (Robison) Kilgore.

She grew up in Lawrence and graduated from Liberty Memorial High School. She attended Central Bible College in Springfield, Mo., for two years.

Mrs. Clevenger worked in secretarial positions in Springfield, Mo., and in Lawrence for Charles Springer. She established scholarship funds for Veritas Christian School.

She was a longtime member of First Assembly of God and Clinton Parkway Assembly of God. She was a member of Women’s Aglow.

She married Lee J. “Jack” Clevenger on April 19, 1951, in Oakland, Calif.

Survivors include her former husband, Jack Clevenger, Lawrence; a son, Stephen Clevenger, Lawrence; two daughters, Vicki Taylor, Lawrence, and Melody Smith, Perry; and eight grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday.

The family suggests memorials to Clinton Parkway Assembly of God, sent in care of the funeral home.
