Youth Baseball Roundup: Raiders third in tourney

? Enid, Okla., edged Lawrence’s Raiders 4-1, on Saturday in the semifinals of the Enid Woodbat Tournament, an 18-and-under American Legion tournament.

Blake Dickson had a two-hitter entering the seventh. He allowed two earned runs on three hits.

“He pitched a great game. We couldn’t get a hit when we needed one tonight. It was a great game,” Raiders coach Carl Brooks said. “It was a well pitched game by both teams.

The game ended when Troy Wingert was robbed of an extra-base hit by the Enid center fielder with two men on base and two outs.

The Raiders placed third at the eight-team tournament with a 2-2 record. The Raiders will travel to Olathe East on Tuesday.

Renegades split pair

St. Louis  The Lawrence Renegades, an 18-under traveling team, split two games Saturday at the Fourth of July Tournament.

The Renegades (18-11) defeated the St. Louis Tigers, 6-5, then completed play in the tournament with a 10-1 loss to Quincy, Ill.

John Parker (5-1) picked up the victory against St. Louis, and Ryne Jackson had a double.
