Cross, Simmons win

Steve Cross of Carbondale and Doc Simmons of Overbrook teamed to catch 10 crappie that weighed 9.75 pounds and took first place at the Crappie Busters tournament at Pomona Lake of June 30.

Cheever-Frank team wins US-CATS title

Rick Cheever of Manhattan and Randy Frank of Junction City teamed to catch six channel catfish that weighed 38.90 pounds to win the Kansas division of the US-CATS tournament at Tuttle Creek Lake of June 22. In total, the participants caught 52 channel cats that weighed 282.6 pounds

The next tournament will be held on July 27 at Milford Lake State Park, Rush Creek Marina boat ramp. This is a Pro Tournament Trail event, and the entry fee is $200 per team.

The next Kansas division tournament will be on Sept. 7 at Melvern Lake.

Carp shoot slated

Kansas Bowhunters Assn. will be having a carp shoot at Milford Lake July 13-14. The shoot will begin at noon Saturday and continue through noon Sunday. Participants will camp in Wakefield at the city park. The shoot is open to members, guests and anyone who enjoys chasing carp and gar with bows and arrows.
