Methodists name KU alumna as elder

Wichita Kansas University alumna Kimberly Susanne Dickerson, Wichita, is a new elder in the United Methodist Church. Dickerson will continue to serve as associate pastor at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Wichita.

Kansas Area United Methodist Bishop Fritz Mutti, Topeka, ordained Dickerson during a service on June 14 in Salina. The service was part of the 2002 session of the Kansas West Annual Regional Conference of the United Methodist Church.

A native of Hutchinson, Dickerson earned her master of divinity degree in 2000 from Iliff School of Theology in Denver. She received a bachelor’s degree in psychology and religious studies from KU in 1996.

Apostolic official to visit Mustard Seed

Wayne C. Anderson of International Apostolic Ministries will speak at 7 p.m. today and 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Mustard Seed Christian Fellowship, 700 Wakarusa Drive.

The monthly “In His Presence” worship hour is at 7 p.m. Friday. Simply Singles will attend and meet for fellowship afterwards.

Women are invited to attend the “Sisters” Brunch and fellowship from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. July 13.

Missionary to talk at Clinton Parkway

Danny Seler, missionary to Latin America, will be sharing his vision during a segment of the 10 a.m. Sunday service at Clinton Parkway Assembly of God, 3200 Clinton Parkway.

After the service, the Rev. Rick Burwick will continue with his series on “Secrets of the Vine.”

Youths to share project experiences

Julie McGinn and Tim Burgess, along with other members of the combined youth groups from Topeka who attended the work project in Mobile, Ala., will share their adventures with the congregation during the worship service this Sunday. “Our Bay Retreat Experience” is the name of the report and will be a group effort.

Bob, Jean, Steven and Caitlyn Rummer and Jacquie Klarenbech will provide special music for the service.

Calvary to show video about Nigerian pastor

“Raised From The Dead,” a Christian video, will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Temple Assembly of God, 606 W. 29th St. Terrace.

It is the story of a Nigerian pastor who was seriously injured in a car accident on Nov. 30, 2001. He was pronounced dead by two different medical staffs in two different hospitals. He was embalmed and lay in a coffin for three days.

Unity Church to meet at new church

Unity Church of Lawrence celebrates its first Sunday at Ninth and Madeline with a traditional cleansing by Merle Anderson and a ceremonial bringing of the light by children and dancers.

Readings and prayers written by the congregation will be placed in a time capsule, and special music will be performed by Richard Mekdeci. Services are at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Nazarenes in McLouth to dedicate church

McLouth A formal dedication ceremony for the McLouth Church of the Nazarene’s new church will be at 3 p.m. July 28 at 901 E. Lake.

The ceremony will recognize volunteers and other people who worked on the church. From 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. the church will have a cookout, and games and fellowship will be at 7 p.m.

The church had its first service in the new building on June 2. The brick church, appraised at $1 million, was built mostly with volunteer labor.

The new church will offer Vacation Bible School for children ages 3 through sixth grade from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. July 15-19. The theme is “Godzwerkus Circus School.”

Trinity celebrates Independence Day

Trinity Episcopal Church, 1011 Vt., will celebrate the independence of our country with special readings and hymns at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service. A patriotic reception will be after the service.

Children age 3 to third grade can participate in the Summer Sunday School, which will meet during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service in the Godly Play Room.
