Clifton P. Hill

Mr. Hill died Saturday, June 29, 2002, in Kerrville.

He was born Oct. 26, 1918, in Lexington, Ala. He graduated from Lubbock High School, where he was a member of the 1939 Texas state football championship team. He graduated from Coffeyville (Kan.) Junior College in 1941 and is a member of its football hall of fame.

Mr. Hill served in the U.S. Marines, from 1941 to 1944 in the South Pacific.

He worked for Vincents Furniture Store and Pur-O-Zone in Lawrence, Kan., and Coffeyville, Kan., from 1951 to 1955. From 1956 to 1965, he traveled for Sealy Mattress Co.. He owned and operated Hill’s Furniture Store from 1965 to 1977 in Lawrence, Kan. He worked for Lawrence public schools from 1977 to 1983 until he retired to Kerrville.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley, of the home; three sons, W. Lewis, Seminole, Fla., and John C. and Mark A., both of Lawrence, Kan.; and four granddaughters.

The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Senior Services.
