City Seeks Umpires: Are you interested in umpiring city softball this summer? If so, call Bob Stanclift at 832-7922. An umpire orientation meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Community Building, 115 West 11th St.

DCABA Coaches Meeting: Douglas County Amateur Baseball Association coaches will meet at 6:30 p.m. next Wednesday at the Holcom Rec Center. All coaches are required to attend. For information, call 841-0385.

Holcom/Houk-Ice Registration: Registration forms for the Holcom and Houk-Ice youth baseball league are available at the Holcom Rec Center. Tryouts for the Houk-Ice League (ages 13-14) will be on April 6-7 with the Holcom League (ages 15-17) slated for May 18-19. Both leagues are looking for volunteer coaches. Ex-Lion Fourth: Tennessee State’s Kizzie Ricks, a Lawrence High product, finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles at the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor track meet last weekend.

LGA Gymnasts Shine: Chelsey Ornburn of Lawrence Gymnastics Academy won the vault and finished sixth in all-around in Level 6 competition at a meet earlier this month in Wichita. LGA’s Adrienne Struble was fifth in all-around. LGA’s Dianna Torgerson also competed.

KVF U-13 Girls Romp: Abby Vestal scored four goals and Lucca Wang three as Kaw Valley Force U-13 premier girls posted a 9-2 indoor soccer win last weekend. Jen Busby and Clare Robinson also scored. Kara Wahnee and Amanda Vervynck had assists. Megan Hrenchir was in goal.
