Main products and services: The company uses a heated, high-pressure process to apply spray-on truck bedliners. The material a polyurethane elastomer that ends up similar to the bottom of a work boot dries in three to five seconds, and takes two to three hours to apply.

The protective coating also is used on work benches, playground equipment and other wood products, as well as on concrete, fiberglass and Styrofoam, Darla Blecha said.

Why is the Lawrence area a good place for the business? “Fifty to 60 percent of vehicles purchased (or) owned in Douglas County are trucks,” she said. “We feel the people in Lawrence and surrounding areas are conscientious of their investments and will want to protect them.”

What are the company’s growth plans? Continue customer service and satisfaction, and break into new markets, Darla Blecha said. Possibilities include lining beds of city and county vehicles, and coating park benches and other equipment. Marinas could use treated foam blocks for dock supports.

Bottom line, she said: “When people are looking for a sprayed-on truck bedliner we want them to think Line-X, not Brand XXX.”

Where do you see the business in five years? “We would like to own our own building and offer a full line of truck and auto accessories,” she said.

Something you may be surprised to learn about the business: Line-X Corp. is a 9-year-old business that has more than 400 franchises throughout the country, Darla Blecha said.

“We sponsor a monster truck and street luge multitime X Games gold medalist and Gravity Games gold medalist Rat Sult,” she said.
