Police reports
A 21-year-old male employee of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department was reportedly battered early Friday at Coyote’s, 1003 E. 23rd St. The victim and suspect had been involved in a verbal altercation at the bar last week, said Lawrence Police Sgt. Dave Hubbel. When the suspect saw the victim again on Friday, he tried to provoke the victim to fight, but the victim declined, Hubbel said. Later, when the victim went to the restroom, the suspect grabbed him and shoved him out a side exit, Hubbel said. The victim had alerted security, however, and bar employees kicked the suspect out before police arrived. The reported battery took place between 12:10 a.m. and 12:35 a.m. Friday.

Condition reports
Tristan Westphal, the 23-year-old Lawrence man injured Wednesday night when he drove his pickup into Riverside School, 601 North Iowa, was listed in fair condition Saturday night at Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.
