Kracl sparks Cardinals in OT victory

Lauren Kracl, a 6-foot sophomore, scored a game-high 28 points, snagged 18 rebounds and hit several key baskets down the stretch to lead Eudora to a 54-50 overtime victory over the Trojans in Frontier League girls basketball.

“She’s not always a take-charge type of person, but tonight she wanted it,” EHS coach Gretchen Schreiner said.

Down 46-45 with three seconds left in regulation, Kracl made a free throw to send the game into overtime. She had 13 points and 11 rebounds in the fourth quarter and scored seven of the Cardinals’ eight points in the extra period.

The Cardinals (5-10) trailed 25-16 at halftime and outscored Osawatomie 14-13 in the third quarter to pull within eight points.

Eudora rallied with a 16-8 run in the fourth period to force OT.

Jill Woodward scored 11 points and Tina Lauber 11 for EHS.

Next for EHS is a road game tonight at Baldwin.

DeSoto Santa Fe Trail outscored DeSoto 18-2 in the second quarter en route to a lopsided Kaw Valley League victory over the Wildcats.

Junior Cameron Babb and senior Ben Fawl scored 17 points apiece to lead the SFT onslaught.

Senior Ryan Hulings (12) and senior Brian Kral (11) also scored in double-figures for the Chargers, who improved to 10-5.
