Brown not ‘jumping ship’

University of Colorado standout tailback Chris Brown apparently has no plans to enter the NFL draft early.

Buffaloes coach Gary Barnett and Brown’s father Levelle Brown said there’s little doubt Brown will play out his senior year with CU.

“He went there to get an education and get a degree,” Levelle Brown told The Denver Post from his home in Naperville, Ill. “There hasn’t been any talk about him jumping ship.”

Barnett said the Brown family has assured him that Chris Brown wants to return.

The Brown family plans to investigate insurance policies to hedge against the NFL money they would forgo. Jan. 15 is the deadline for underclassmen to declare for the draft, but the Browns haven’t asked the league to estimate where the Big 12’s leading rusher might fall in the draft.

Brown’s teammates and coaches say Brown is too focused on playing in Saturday’s Alamo Bowl against Wisconsin in San Antonio after missing about six weeks with a bruised sternum to think about the draft.
