Francis Edward Wolownik

? Mass of Christian burial for Francis Edward Wolownik, 79, Frontenac, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Frontenac. Burial with military honors will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Frontenac.

Mr. Wolownik died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at the Mount Carmel Regional Medical Center, Pittsburg.

He was born April 3, 1923, in Frontenac, the son of Raymond and Anastasia (Foryza) Wolownik. He lived in the area all his life and graduated from Frontenac High School.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and worked as a telegrapher for the Union Pacific Railroad before retiring in 1983.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Frontenac American Legion and the Railroaders Union.

He married Betty Jean Florio on June 26, 1954, in Scammon. She died Aug. 10, 1970.

Survivors include a son, Michael, Frontenac; two daughters, Marianne Thompson, Lake Wood, Colo., Paula Jean Hedges, Lawrence; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. today at Friskel Funeral Home, Frontenac. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the church, where the family also will receive friends until 8 p.m.
