Receiver commits to KU

Kansas University has received another verbal commitment from a junior-college football player.

KU, which received non-binding commitments from two Northeast Oklahoma A&M players last weekend, has also secured Alfred State receiver Lyonel Anderson, according to Jon Kirby of Mo-Kan Football and rivals.com.

Anderson, a big target at 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, caught 19 passes for 382 yards and four touchdowns as a freshman tight end at the New York junior college. This season he moved to receiver and caught 26 passes for 534 yards and three touchdowns, despite playing with a broken wrist.

Anderson also made a campus visit to Missouri but canceled a trip to Indiana after KU receivers coach Tyrone Dixon visited him Friday in new York. He also was recruited by Pitt.

Anderson and NEO offensive lineman Joe Vaughn (6-3, 290) are expected to make their commitments official on Wednesday, the first day junior college players can sign letters of intent. Both players told Kirby they planned to transfer at semester and participate in spring drills.

Vaughn, a second-team NJCAA All-American, is one of three NEO players who have committed to KU. Teammate Michael Pruitt, a first-team All-American, committed to Kansas early, and defensive back Brandon Johnson verbally committed after a campus visit this weekend along with Vaughn.

KU has 11 known commitments, including six junior-college players.
