It’s cold enough to snow. It looks like it’s going to snow.

But don’t count on too many flakes falling in the Lawrence area in the next two days, says Matt Makens, 6News meteorologist.

“As far as snow, maybe a flurry tomorrow morning for the commute to work. But it should not be a big deal,” Makens said. “We’re not expecting any major accumulation and the chance for flurries should end for the afternoon.”

If you’re looking for more of the white stuff, you’ll have to go south — or up north, Makens said.

“There are two different storms coming through. We’ll see the fringes of the weaker one on the north,” he said. “Up close to Nebraska, folks might get an inch of snow.”

South of Wichita and in the southeast corner of the state, about two inches of snow are expected over the next two days, he said.

Southern Missouri, eastern Oklahoma and northern Arkansas are all in a winter storm watch, with some areas expecting to see half a foot of snow, Makens said.

Tuesday’s forecast for the Lawrence area calls for clouds thickening during the day, with the high of 33. Tuesday night, it will continue to be cloudy, with a low of 20.

Wednesday, cloudy skies will continue, with the chance for light snow flurries early on in the morning.

“We shouldn’t expect any accumulation so the commute to work or school should be fine,” Makens said.

Wednesday’s high will reach 28, with the overnight low reaching 15.

Thursday through Saturday, skies will be partly cloudy. High temperatures are as follows: Thursday, 34; Friday, 45; Saturday, 46, and Sunday, 43.
