Kings sign Jackson, put Turkoglu on IR

Sacramento, Calif. – The injury-plagued Sacramento Kings signed guard Jim Jackson on Sunday and put forward Hedo Turkoglu on the injured list with a sprained wrist.

Jackson joined his ninth NBA team in 11 seasons. He had been out of the league since spending last season with Miami, where he averaged 10.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.

The Kings, who played host to Houston on Sunday night, had just eight healthy players on Friday, when they beat the Los Angeles Clippers for their seventh win in eight games.

All-Star Peja Stojakovic has missed four games with inflamed tissue in his heel, while point guard Mike Bibby is still two weeks away from returning. Reserves Scot Pollard and Mateen Cleaves also are hurt, leaving the Kings without enough healthy players to scrimmage in practice.

Turkoglu sprained his right wrist last Wednesday.

Mutombo, Kittles sit out for Nets with injuries

Seattle – The New Jersey Nets played without center Dikembe Mutombo and guard Kerry Kittles, who both missed the game against Seattle on Sunday because of injuries.

Mutombo was out for the second straight game because of a sore right wrist. Kittles didn’t suit up because of a bruised right knee. Mutombo is averaging 7.3 points and 7.1 rebounds a game. Kittles has averages of 12.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists.

Clippers center out

Los Angeles – Clippers center Michael Olowokandi went on the injured list Sunday with a sore left knee. Point guard Andre Miller also missed Sunday’s game against Indiana. He sprained his left ankle in Friday’s loss at Sacramento. Miller is listed as day-to-day. The Clippers activated forward Tremaine Fowlkes to fill Olowokandi’s roster spot. Olowokandi is averaging 14.1 points and 9.3 rebounds.
