Anniversaries

Hahn

Jim and Audrey Hahn will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at the American Legion in Lawrence.

They were married Aug. 30, 1952, in Bentonville, Ark.

Jim worked for FMC in Lawrence from 1952 to 1957. He served in the Marine Corps from 1957 to 1959. After his discharge from the Marine Corps, Jim worked at FMC until 1962. In 1962, Jim began working for Audrey’s family’s business, Kaw Motors. Jim and Audrey worked at Kaw Motors until their retirement in 1993.

The couple’s children are Jamie Roadhouse, Osborne, and Joel Hahn, Lawrence. They have four grandchildren.

The couple request no gifts.

Reiber

Joan and Fritz Reiber will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a garden reception from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 7 at 2505 Yale Road in Lawrence.

The couple were married Sept. 14, 1952, at Christ Episcopal Church in Bradenton, Fla. A few days later they returned to Florida State University where they were students. They returned to FSU in 1962 and moved to Lawrence in 1964.

Fritz taught graphic design at KU for 29 years. He also was a book designer for the Regents Press of Kansas. Joan was the director at Hilltop Child Development Center for 18 years. Previously, she was a laboratory supervisor of a preschool program in the Department of Human Development and Family Life. They retired in 1993.

Their children are Beth Reiber, Lawrence; Mitch Reiber, Olathe; Durand Reiber, Lawrence; Kristin von Zweck, Encinitas, Calif.; and Gretchen Eckerle, Bourbonnais, Ill. The couple also have nine grandchildren and four stepgrandchildren.

Ryan

Ted and Colleen Ryan celebrate their 50th anniversary today.

Ted Ryan and Colleen Collins were married Aug. 31, 1952, in Walla Walla, Wash.

The couple met while attending college at Cornell University. They are both originally from the Northwest and moved to Lawrence in 1971.

Ted has a degree in agronomy from Cornell University. He retired after a 40-year career in agribusiness. He began his career as a field inspector for Allied Seed Co. in Caldwell, Idaho. Ted worked his way through the industry selling and marketing hybrid seeds for several companies. He retired in 1991 from AgriPro in Kansas City.

Colleen raised five children and took night classes at Kansas University. At the age of 55, she obtained a doctorate in educational policy and administration in 1981. She was a counselor at the KU Continuing Education Department. She has retired.

The couple’s children are Tom Ryan, Pat Ryan, Tim Ryan, Kelly Ryan and Shauna Ryan. They also have nine grandchildren.

The couple celebrated their anniversary July 14 with a reception at Alvamar Country Club.

Woods

Louise and Clyde Woods will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner.

They were married Sept. 4, 1942, in Kansas City, Kan.

Clyde was a civil engineer for Kansas Department of Transportation for 38 years, retiring in 1984. Louise was a homemaker. She worked three years at KLWN radio station in Lawrence.

The couple have a daughter, Nancy Rake, Lawrence, and two grandchildren.
