City commissioners will be asked to approve procedures for a survey of the city’s 800-plus employees.

Background

The commission is spending $36,000 with Lawrence research firm GRI on two surveys to gauge City Hall’s user-friendliness. One survey will gauge public attitudes; the one discussed Tuesday is to see how city employees feel about their jobs.

Bid and purchase items:

Approve purchase of pedestrian easement and right-of-way totaling 6,428 square feet (plus donated 11,263-square-feet temporary easement) from Aldi’s in the amount of $25,712 for 31st and Iowa streets improvements.

Award sidewalk repair project to Meadows Construction Co. Inc. in the amount of $159,495.

Award bids for 5/8-inch cold water meters to ABB for a total of $43,500 and award bids for 1-inch cold water meters to Midwest Meter Inc., for a total of $5,700.

Award bid for laundry/cleaning for the police department to Pride Cleaners for $66,240.

Approve agreement with FAA for technical project representation for $82,404. FAA is responsible for 90 percent of the cost, and the city is responsible for 10 percent of the cost.

Adopt the following ordinances on first reading:

Annexing approximately 40 acres of city-owned property located 1/8 mile west of the intersection of East 1100 and Peterson roads.

Annexing approximately 14.40 acres of city-owned property located 1/8 mile west of the intersection of East 1100 Road and Peterson roads.

Rezoning 1.246 acres from planned commercial development to planned residential development, located north of West Sixth Street between Queens and Folks roads.

Rezoning 2.061 acres from planned residential development to planned commercial development, located north of West Sixth Street between Queens and Folks roads.

Rezoning .674 acre from single-family residence to planned residential development, located north of West Sixth Street between Queens and Folks roads.

Rezoning 0.200 acre from single-family residence to residential duplex district, located at 1612 W. 15th St.

Adopt on second reading an ordinance allowing the temporary sale of alcoholic beverages Sept. 14 at South Park for the Second Annual “Oompahfest,” sponsored by Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Approve site plan for adding surface parking to a lot adjacent to the existing building at Health Care Access, 1920 Moodie Road.

Approve a request to rezone 3.995 acres from agricultural to residence-office district. The property is generally described as being located at the southwest corner of West Sixth Street and East 1100 Road . Submitted by Peridian Group Inc. for First Management Inc., property owners of record.

Receive request from Alvamar Inc. and Diamond Head Limited Partnership for a special assessment benefit district for the improvement of George Williams Way from Langston Hughes School to West Sixth Street; refer to staff for report.

Receive letter requesting the city purchase a lot on the 4500 block of Trail Road for a small park; refer request to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and staff.

Authorize the mayor to sign a release of mortgage for Antoine and Anita Sitting Up, 110 Indian Ave.

Authorize the mayor to sign a partial release of mortgage for Mark Lehmann, 1033 N.J.
