Pasadena, Calif. ? Alexi Lalas headed in Simon Elliott’s corner kick in the 82nd minute to give the Los Angeles Galaxy a 2-1 victory over the Kansas City Wizards on Wednesday night.

Lalas’ header went off goalkeeper Tony Meola’s gloves for the Galaxy defender’s fourth goal of the season, matching an MLS career high and increasing his point total to a career-high 12.

Carlos Ruiz scored off a rebound in the 31st minute for his league-leading 17th goal for Los Angeles (12-8-3).

Preki tied it for the Wizards (8-9-8) in the 60th minute, scoring his sixth goal of the season.
