Ronald P. Jacobsma

Meriden Services for Ronald P. Jacobsma, 63, rural Meriden, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Jefferson Assembly of God Church, Meriden.

Mr. Jacobsma died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka after a long bout with cancer.

He was born Jan. 13, 1939, in Blue Island, Ill., the son of Peter Martin and Marie Louise (Ehlers) Jacobsma. He had lived in Topeka since 1982. He moved to the Rock Creek Community, Meriden, in 1989.

Mr. Jacobsma was a financial auditor for the Air Force for 22 years. He also served in Vietnam. He retired from the Air Force in 1980. He served as a financial officer for the Coast Guard in Topeka from 1982 until his retirement in September 2001.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10815, Meriden, and Immanuel Bethel United Church of Christ, Dolton, Ill. He attended Jefferson Assembly of God Church.

He married Phyllis J. Wilson on May 12, 1990, in Ozawkie and remarried her June 8, 2002, in Meriden. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his mother, Meriden; two sons, Edward, Monroe, N.C., and Bryan, Conway, S.C.; a stepson, Rick Freeze, Pasco, Wash.; a daughter, Tammy Carpenter, Conway, S.C.; a stepdaughter, Nichloe Sawyer, Lecompton; and six grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the church, 8640 Clark Road, Meriden 66512.
