Priestley serious, stable after crash in practice

? Race car driver and actor Jason Priestley was in serious condition Sunday after sustaining multiple injuries in a crash during practice at Kentucky Speedway.

Priestley, a driver in the Infiniti Pro Series, was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center, and is in “serious but stable” condition, according to Indy Racing League doctor Henry Bock, who said that Priestley was to be tested and monitored late into the night.

“These kinds of things can change in a hurry from good to bad and bad to good,” Brock said. “But his vital signs have been stable since he left here.”

Brock said Priestley had a closed head injury most likely a concussion as well as a fracture to his thoracic spine and fractures to both feet. Priestley also has a broken nose and some facial cuts. But none of the injuries appears life threatening, Brock said.

He added that the driver had feeling in all of his extremities and that there is nothing to point to paralysis.

The 32-year-old actor of “Beverly Hills 90210” fame crashed into the wall at nearly 180 mph in the second turn about two hours before he was to start on the front row in the Kentucky 100.
