William ‘Eric’ Lienhard

Mass of Christian Burial services for William “Eric” Lienhard, 37, Lawrence, will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Lienhard died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at Hickory Pointe Care & Rehabilitation Center, Oskaloosa. He had received injuries in a 1987 automobile accident in Lawrence.

He was born Dec. 27, 1964, in Wichita, the son of William B. and Jeanine (Joseph) Lienhard. He was a 1983 graduate of Lawrence High School and attended Emporia State University on a basketball scholarship. He later transferred to Kansas University. In high school, he played on the 1983 state 6A championship basketball team.

Mr. Lienhard was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and while at KU, he attended St. Lawrence Catholic Center.

Survivors include his parents, Lawrence; and three sisters, Julie Kivisto, Tulsa, Okla., Betsy Scott, Lawrence, and Amy Smithback, Garmisch, Germany.

A parish wake service will be at 8 p.m. Friday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. The family will receive friends following the service.

The family suggests memorials to Kansas Advocates for Better Care or to Kansas Brain Injury Assn., sent in care of the mortuary.
