Late surge sinks Kansas

? Fueled by a three-run homer from catcher John Grose, Nebraska snapped a scoreless deadlock by scoring four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to upend Kansas, 4-0, in Big 12 Conference baseball on Friday night.

KU senior Jeff Davis (5-3) was the hard-luck losing pitcher. He allowed 10 hits, three in the eighth inning, and struck out one and walked two in eight innings.

NU’s Aaron Marsden (5-1) tossed a three-hitter. Ryan Baty, Kevin Wheeler and Travis Metcalf accounted for the Jayhawks’ hits, all singles.

Nebraska (29-14 overall, 13-9 in Big 12) and KU (16-22, 3-15) are scheduled to play again at 2 p.m. today.
